Dedicated Storage Space

Whatever you are storing, make sure that you have a space dedicated to that item or collection only. Things get messy and disorganized when you try to fit too many items or categories into one space. No Sunlight

What ruins collections more than anything? UV rays! The sun is not your friend and it will dull and yellow many plastics. It will ruin photographs and the heat will wreak havoc on electronics. Your best best is a cool dark place, free of any sun and moisture.

Pack Tight

When packing your collection make sure that the packing is tight and the item don’t move around too much. For fragile items consider using some type of bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Use plastic boxes for heavier items and cardboard for anything else. If you need any packing supplies, we sell it all.

Label Your Boxes

We can’t stress this enough and its a common theme in our blog posts. Labeling what you put into each box will save you such a headache! Especially if you
often forget what you put into storage. In addition to labels, make sure that you keep a list on everything you place in and take out of your storage locker. The last thing you want is wasting time rummaging through every box.

With the meteoric rise of websites like Air BnB, it’s no surprise that many people are trying to hop on this gold rush. Anyone can make an account, set up some basic information and begin renting something as small as a single room. However, there are a few things that you need to do before you just rent out a room or smaller space. Let Stop and Store Harrisburg show you how to rent out a small space.

Sure, you could just take any old photos and throw them up on a rental site, but your chances of renting seriously decline. So get to it, clean and
scrub that place until its perfect. If you don’t have a good camera, hit Craigslist and hire a photographer, they don’t have to be expensive.

Fix The Broken

Grab your tool box and fix everything that’s broken or may need repair in the near future. It takes only a few bad reviews to make sure no one else rents your place out again. If you can’t fix it on your own, hire a handyman and put him to work asap. Think of these expenses as an investment. The better your space is, the more will rent and the more money you will make.

Choose Your Market

It’s your space after all so now you need to decide what types of people that you want to rent to. The good thing behind rental sites like Air BnB is that you, the owner, has the power to accept of decline renters. When someone requests a booking, you see their history, age and a photo. You can even request to speak with them before hand. If you live in a party area of town, and a group of 21 year old’s request to book, you can expect some partying, so decide before hand whether you want to cater to this market.
